About us

ICT Fire Training Department was established to provide disaster management, fire and first aid training courses in all areas of East Africa. Our aim is to be the leading college in Kenya and East Africa offering complete fire and first aid training solutions to meet the legislative requirements while protecting life and property.

Whether you wish to put one or more staff on to one of our fire or first aid training courses or have a training course on your premises with minimum disruption to your work force.

Our specialty and expertise is fire safety, fire prevention and fire safety and first aid training including 24 hour fire brigade service.

We raise awareness on the dangers of fire and help manage risk by protecting people and property from fire.

We also hold community fire service in schools working in partnership with Thika Fire.

We provide our clients with a high level of expertise covering a wide range of first aid and fire safety training services that can be tailored to meet their needs in business or in the community.

Mission

At ICT our mission is to preserve and protect life and property from fire and other disasters both natural and man made, provide education, awareness and first aid training to the community.

Stephen Gathimba Mwangi has been working in the fire department since 1981. He has 26 years of experience in disaster management and fire fighting, risk assessment, training and maintenance of fire equipment.

He joined the International Centre of Technology in February 2008. Stephen brings a wealth of experience and expertise to ICT coupled with his management skills to oversee and run the Disaster Management Department at ICT.

Stephen previously worked for Nairobi Fire Brigade in 1981-1994


His duties included:

  • Training on fire fighting techniques
  • Fire fighting and prevention
  • Fire rescue
  • Servicing fire equipments
  • Training on the use of breathing apparatus
     

1994-1997 - Employed at Safari Park Hotel and Casino as their Chief Fire Officer

His duties at Safari Park included:

  • Training the staff on fire safety and precaution
  • Maintenance of fire equipment
  • Advising on fire safety and purchasing of fire safety equipment
  • Advising the management on safety of the staff and tourists
     

1997-2002 – Employed by Lloyds Fire and Safety Management as a resource person

Duties included:

  • Trained their participants on fire prevention and disaster preparedness.
  • It was at Lloyds that Stephen was trained on occupational health and safety.

     

2002-2007- Employed by Kenya Fire as Fire Safety Training Manager

His duties at Kenya Fire included:

  • Maintenance and security of the fire equipment (extinguishers)
  • Trained their customers on fire safety and prevention
  • Testing of portable fire extinguishers
  • Commercializing of fire fixed installations such as suppression system units etc
